Does SkinGenius Clinic have access to my GP or hospital notes?

NO. We do not have access to your GP surgery notes or hospital notes. If you have a complex medical history or have recently had investigations or treatment at your GP surgery or hospital, it would be helpful if you could bring a GP summary with a medication list and any hospital letters/results with you.

If I attend SkinGenius Clinic, do I still need my NHS GP?

NO. You should remain registered with your usual NHS GP as certain services can only be accessed via an NHS GP and provides a point of contact for any medical matters.

If the problem I’ve been seen at SkinGenius clinic for doesn’t get better or I need ongoing treatment, can I see my NHS GP about it?

YES. While we hope that we can treat your medical problem effectively and are happy to provide ongoing treatment, you can return to your NHS GP for treatment if you wish.

Does SkinGenius Clinic share all my information with my NHS GP?

ONLY if you consent to us sharing information with them. If you do not consent, we share no information, however prescriptions for controlled drugs will not be issued if your consent is not given. This is a safety issue.

Does SkinGenius Clinic see babies and children?

YES. We see people of all ages with a wide range of problems. We don’t offer routine 6-8 week baby check or 30 month development check, as these are part of NHS paediatric surveillance.

Can I contact SkinGenius Clinic anytime day or night?

YES. You can call, email or message 24 hours a day.  Although none of these are manned 24 hours a day; emails, messages and voicemails will be checked at numerous points through the day. You will normally receive a reply the same day. If you contact us late in the evening or over the weekend, response time may be longer.

Can I contact SkinGenius Clinic in an emergency?

NO. We are not an emergency service. Emergency problems are problems that need to be dealt with within a few hours. The clinic mobile, email inbox and message service is not manned 24 hours a day and therefore if you contact us in an emergency your message may not be received and your care may be delayed.  If you think your problem is an emergency, please attend A&E or call 999.

Can I contact SkinGenius Clinic if I have an urgent problem?

YES and NO. Urgent problems generally need seen the same day. There are usually some same day appointments available each day, which can be booked directly online.  If there is no availability you can contact us via phone, email or message. Our voicemail, email inbox and messages are checked throughout the day so any messages regarding need for same day appointment will be replied to as soon as possible. If you have not received a reply within a few hours, we would recommend contacting your NHS GP, A&E, minor injuries or seek advice from 111 (NHS 24).

Can I contact SkinGenius Clinic if I have a routine problem?

YES. Routine problems can usually wait a few days to weeks to be seen. These can usually be booked directly online but if you are unsure how to book or are looking for advice, please contact us.

Can I contact SkinGenius Clinic if I have a mental health problem?

YES. We can deal with mental and physical health problems. Our appointments are more suited to routine mental health issues, so if you are having suicidal thoughts/crisis or notice a rapid deterioration in your mental health seeking help from your NHS GP, 111 for advice and access to mental health advice/assessment or you can contact agencies like The Samaritans (01592116123) or Breathing Space helpline 08008385 for advice and support.

Can my health insurance pay for services at SkinGenius Clinic?

NO. We, currently, have no affiliation with health insurance providers in the UK.

What if I miss my appointment at SkinGenius Clinic?

You will lose your 10% deposit, unless you advise us that you cannot attend more than 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. We understand that sometimes, last minute cancellations cannot be avoided, such as illness or bereavement, but last minute cancellations cannot be filled short notice, so the deposit will be retained.
