Chemical Skin Peels

Skin Science

AlumierMD offer a range of professional chemical peels and treatments to treat a variety of skin types and skin problems.  The skin is made up of epidermis and dermis underneath.   The outermost layer of the epidermis is called the stratum corneum. The skin cells in the stratum corneum are actually dead and can make our complexion look dull and uneven.  Exfoliating skin with scrubs and lotions can help but chemical peels work at a more advanced level.

Chemical Peels: Supercharged Exfoliators

A chemical peel is a treatment that not only removes the top layers of the skin but also stimulates new epidermal cells to grow (in the basal layer) and stimulates collagen production in the dermis. Chemical peels contain weak acids, which lower the pH of the upper layers of the skin. This causes the epidermal cell connections to break causing the dead skin cells to slough off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion.

AlumierMD Peels

AlumierMD offer a selection of superficial to medium depth peels known for their excellent results and safety profile. These peels provide gentle yet effective results, without the downtime associated with the deep peels performed by Dermatologists in the hospital setting.

Treatment Expectations

A single chemical peel will give an immediate brightening, smoothing and radiance to the skin and will benefit the skin over the following few weeks. Great if you have a big night or special occasion coming up! However, more significant results require a course of treatments over a few months.  During this time clients see gradual and progressive improvement in textural issues, fine lines and acne.  Also, when peels are performed regularly, the skin gets used to the process and begins to rejuvenate itself like younger skin.

There are a variety of peels, each with a unique blend of acids to target specific skin concerns such as ageing, pigmentation or acne.

Customised Treatment Plan

Dr McCallum will take you through a skin consultation and a treatment plan tailored to treat individual skin needs. She will create a personalized program that combines professional treatments with home care products since they work synergistically to improve the health and beauty of skin.  The peel treatment can also be supplemented with treatment masks and post-peel treatments to provide targeted and more effective results.

All peel treatments are finished off with the application of a brightening accelerator, a calming balm and an SPF.  Clients are also given an aftercare pack to apply for the first 5 days post peel, to optimise results and reduce any adverse effects.

AlumierMD Peels and Treatment Options

Glow Peel combines lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol – creating a multipurpose resurfacing solution effective in minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. This formula exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal. To suit individual needs, Glow Peel can be customised by strength by the numbers of layers applied. Not recommended in Rosacea.

Radiant 20/10 contains lactic and salicylic acid but at higher concentrations. This is a more of a resurfacing peel which improves skin tone and texture by exfoliating dead skin cells and speeding cell turnover. Therefore reducing both acne pimples and large pores but also the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation.

Vitamin A boost is a potent retinol and lactic acid resurfacing treatment. It reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation by boosting collagen production and speeding cell turnover, creating a more radiant and even-toned complexion. Ideal for mature or sun damaged skin and acne.

Specific for Acne, Oily or Rosacea

  • Detox Clear contains salicylic acid and lactic acid for excellent pore penetration, exfoliation and reduction of sebum.  The ingredients work to smooth skin, minimise pore size experience, reduce acne and prevent new pimples from forming. As the name suggests it helps to detox acne prone skin plus gently exfoliates.
  • Refining Clay Mask absorbs excess oil and gently exfoliates skin in preparation for a peel. It reduces blemishes and maintains hydration. It is perfect before Detox Clear or Radiant 20/10.
  • Aqua Infusion Mask is a hydrating but oil free mask used for acne prone skin that has a tendancy to be dry or sensitive, including Rosacea.  It can be applied after Detox peel to add moisture and leaves skin looking and feeling quenched for upto 3 days.

Specific for Ageing Skin and Hyperpigmentation

  • Radiant 30 is an alpha hydroxy acid resurfacing peel containing lactic acid. It exfoliates dead skin cells, boosts cell turnover and stimulates collagen; improving skin texture, tone, lines, hyperpigmentation and even enlarged pores.
  • Enzyme Retexturing Treatment is a highly effective fruit enzyme resurfacing solution. It exfoliates dead skin cells and promotes skin renewal.  The result is a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation, while soothing and maintaining hydration.
  • Deep Moisture Mask is a highly moisturising mask for mature, dry, sensitive or hyperpigmented skin. It infuses skin with antioxidants and moisture binding ingredients resulting in plump, soft skin and a dewy complexion. It is applied after a peel to lock in moisture and the key ingredients added in the other treatments.
Enzyme re texturing treatment can be used before Radiant 30 peel for added exfoliation: and Vitamin A boost or Moisture rich mask can be added after.
