Tests
Following your consultation Dr McCallum may suggest that blood tests, microbiology swabs or other lab tests are required. We offer various biochemistry, haematology, immunology and microbiology investigations at SkinGenius Clinic.
She can collect blood samples or perform a microbiology swab during the consultation. She may also ask you to provide a urine or stool sample after the consultation. Tests will then be sent to the labs at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy to be processed.
Cost
The lab tests are individually priced and start from £40. An average blood screen costs around £100. There is also a £15 admin fee for tests performed in the clinic. The total cost of the tests plus the admin fee should be paid at the end of the consultation.
Results
Dr McCallum is in partnership with NHS labs in Kirkcaldy and all the samples are processed there. The lab provides a prompt service and should have results back to Dr McCallum within a few days in most instances.
If there are any significantly abnormal results that require urgent action, the lab would contact Dr McCallum as soon as possible so a plan can be made for ongoing care. If grossly abnormal results become available out of hours, they will contact the patient directly.
If you would like a follow up appointment to discuss the test results and make further plans, this needs to booked and paid for as normal. If you would merely like to view the results, these can be emailed to you with basic interpretation for your information.
All abnormal lab results will also be shared with your NHS GP, if consent is given for this
